Hands-On: The Les Indomptables de Cartier Décor Watch
Les Indomptables de Cartier Décor Watch is essential for a 30-piece assortment and was planned and made at the Cartier Metiers d’Arts Maison in La Chaux-de-Fonds. HODINKEE distributed a write up on the Maison after it opened recently. The Maison is a changed farmhouse with each floor committed over to an alternate art. The 28 specialists and women are spread across two outside floors, with the jewelry-production on the principal floor and plating and marquetry on the subsequent floor. Les Indomptables de Cartier Décor Watch is made on both of these floors with the diamond setting on the first and the veneer dial being made on the subsequent floor. In the event that you haven’t watched a diamond setting video yet, I strongly recommend it, as it is incredibly fascinating.
Les Indomptables de Cartier Décor watch is made of four components: the watch mechanism itself, the case, the removable jaguar structure brooch, and the dial. The mechanism, tragically the most un-energizing part about this watch, is quartz and can be set with a crown on the rear of the watch.
The case, which is the most technically intriguing piece of the watch, is 40 mm in measurement, made in 18k white gold, and is set with 212 splendid cut jewels adding up to 2.67 cts. The case back is strong and the case is of an exemplary round plan. Attached to the case, and hung over the gem is a white gold and jewel set jaguar, arising out of punctured foliage developed of pink gold and more precious stones. This exquisite objet is the removable brooch. The puma has pear-formed, emerald-set eyes with dark polish filling in the nose and spots. The technique of setting the stones is completely accomplished by hand. Each depression is etched out by hand followed by the experts putting each individual stone and pinching the edges to hold the stone in place.
This brooch is attached to the situation by sliding the bended pin through an arced channel hollowed out through the highest point of the case at 11 o’clock and finishing at 7 o’clock. The pin is then gotten by the fasten. Obviously this is a pointless plan however it is exceptionally cool face to face and easy to use (after a few tries).
The dark lacquer dial is painted cautiously with purple and white finish leaves and branches. This technique is made by plating the dial with dark veneer, terminating, and afterward returning over the dial with white and purple polish and making the foliage theme. The dial is then terminated again to complete the interaction. The hands are set askew, to make a more modest coasting dial on the base right-hand quadrant of the dial, which allows for perceivability when the puma brooch is attached. Furthermore, the finish dial is complemented with a flower theme set with precious stones into the dial on the left-hand side of the dial, allowing for a more intricate vision whilst the jaguar is not, at this point in place.
Now, I am aware that this piece isn’t for regular wear or use (off by a long shot, to express the self-evident), yet it is wonderful. The measure of work and detail that is placed into each individual jewelry piece made via Cartier is astounding.
This watch retails for $169,000. More information can be found on the Cartier website here .
